Current Irish Government Cabinet

"The Government consists of the Taoiseach and at least six, and not more than 14 Ministers who meet and act as a collective authority. Individual members of the Government are designated as the Ministers with sole responsibility for the administration of the various Departments of State."
Source: Department Of The Taoiseach

This is the 15 member government cabinet which Enda Kenny announced on the 9th of March 2011, which resulted from the outcome of the 2011 Irish General Election. This cabinet has been approved by the President.

Name (Political Party) Portfolio
Enda Kenny (Fine Gael) Taoiseach
Eamon Gilmore (Labour) Tánaiste/Foreign Affairs and Trade
Michael Noonan (Fine Gael) Finance
Brendan Howlin (Labour) Public Reform and Expenditure
Alan Shatter (Fine Gael) Justice, Equality and Defence
Joan Burton (Labour) Social Protection
James Reilly (Fine Gael) Health
Frances Fitzgerald (Fine Gael) Children
Ruairi Quinn (Labour) Education and Skills
Richard Bruton (Fine Gael) Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation
Leo Vardakar (Fine Gael) Transport, Tourism and Sport
Simon Coveney (Fine Gael) Agriculture, Marine and Food
Pat Rabbitte (Labour) Communications, Energy and Natural Resources
Phil Hogan (Fine Gael) Environment, Community and Local Government
Jimmy Deenihan (Fine Gael) Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs
Other Cabinet-related positions:
Willie Penrose (Labour) has been chosen as the 'Super Junior Minister' who attends cabinet meetings and has full voting rights within cabinet on most matters. This role is titled Minister Of State Attending Government, plus he is also the Minister Of State for Housing and Planning.
Paul Kehoe (Fine Gael) Government Chief Whip. The Chief Whip attends all cabinet meetings, and is the enforcer between the cabinet and the other non-cabinet government TDs. Most western, EU or European nations do not employ a whip system, as it is deemed undemocratic, because it gives all of the power to a handful of cabinet members. When TDs follow a whip system, they basically have no say in which way they vote, because they must follow party the line. Kehoe is also the Minister Of State for Defence.
No other junior ministers attend cabinet meetings regularly
Máire Whelan (Labour) Attorney General. She is the official adviser to the cabinet on matters of law, particularly related to the legality of treaties and constitutional/law changes. She attends some cabinet meetings, but does not vote within cabinet.
